Lindoe Foundation Testing

LFT – Lindoe Foundation Testing – is an initiative under development in cooperation between industry partners and LORC. The testing of offshore foundations for wind turbines will focus on partial testing of such areas as foundations’ joints, experiments with new design rules, corrosion protection testing, testing of new installation methods, etc.

It is the intention to exploit the harbor area connected with the Lindø Industrial Park in order to establish a marine foundation test site with full-scale foundations installed for the purpose of training of personnel and sub-sea inspection material. In addition, the group behind LFT intends to build a full scale test lab where both static and dynamic excitation will be possible, as well as testing of surface technology and optimization of fatigue properties such as grinding.

Lindoe Foundation Testing will address practical challenges in the offshore wind turbine sector amongst both large and small producers and suppliers. Dealing with these challenges can affect the final cost of energy from offshore wind turbines in a positive way.

These test sites will complement existing university test facilities in that they will exploit the strong infrastructure at Lindø Industrial Park such as heavy load vehicles, reinforced concrete roads, large gantry cranes, access to the sea and plenty of available space.
