LORC Test Center
The LORC Test Center is under establishment and will be a collection of test facilities aimed at creating cost reductions in the offshore renewable energy sector. It will consist of a testing and demonstration facility for full-sized wind turbine nacelles, Lindoe Nacelle Testing (LNT); a welding center, Lindoe Welding Technology (LWT), focusing on new production methods that can reduce material and energy costs. In addition, LORC Test Center will have several partial testing and training facilities for mechanical tests and tests of foundations that will be established in Lindoe Foundation Testing (LFT).
LORC believes that a highly specialized center for testing and demonstration is vital in order to identify technological opportunities that can contribute to the competitiveness of offshore renewable energy relative to conventional energy sources. This includes improved product testing and demonstration to reduce the expensive downtime for offshore wind turbines. The offshore renewable energy industry will only succeed if knowledge and innovation is developed on an ongoing basis.
