Green Offshore Education Project for New and
Innovative Initiatives
Primary goal of the project:
The primary aim of this project is to employ the unique opportunities that arise from the transition of the Lindø shipyard to a large scale production and test facility for green offshore energy. This will be done in an untraditional approach of analyzing, developing and matching competences in the workforce and demands of specialized skills in the new green businesses.
Short description of the project:
5 main steps will provide insight and point at solutions to move the Danish Green Offshore Sector forward when it comes to available skilled work force, near term and long term. These 5 steps are:
- To identify the competences sought after by the sector, near term and long term. This has been done via company interviews and a report is available.
- To map and describe the Lindø shipyard workforce - and other relevant groups – competences. This is in progress.
- To identify existing retraining and education offers home and abroad. This is in progress.
- To identify recommendations for new retraining and education activities to be initiated to match the current and future skill level demands from the green offshore sector. The aim is to “fill the gap” and also to point at activities that will assist and accelerate the business sector to grow. Several such activities have been identified, and will be further developed in close cooperation with LORC partners and the educational system.
- To evolve and test specific competence development activities, near term and long term. A pilot study commenced in March 2011 to test a set of innovative practices, and activities are being pursued for long term effects, such as a structured lifelong learning scenario as well as new formal offshore wind power educations.
